Giving Back

There is no greater feeling than the act of giving to others less fortunate than yourself. FatNoggin wants to promote the importance of giving back: service projects, donations to charity, walks for a cure, fund-raising, mentoring and simple acts of kindness. On this page, tell us about your acts of kindness and share ideas with others. Include a photo if you have one. Each month we will announce the "FatGiver of the Month." This person will win a free book of his/her choice from FatNoggin.com. Thanks for giving back!

My adopted immigrant familyAn American Greeting

I joined a Mobilization Team to help re-settle a refugee family from Somalia to Austin, Texas. I taught them how to make Tex-Mex food — tacos and chili con queso. I had a welcome party at my house and we played soccer all night. I am also going to help teach them how to speak English. The mom, Jamilah, and her 3 children are the sweetest people and I hope they find happiness in America.

Scottie & SarahScottie

I met a 70 year old mom and her grown son Scottie at my church. Scottie is confined to a wheelchair and has had both of his legs amputated due to spina bifida. I have learned what a tough life they have had both emotionally and financially. I started a volunteer group called Team Scottie to provide friendship to this family and to help them enjoy life in Austin.
